Myobrace: Naturally Straighter Teeth
Invented in Australia over 20 years ago, Myobrace is now becoming a popular form of treatment for correcting growth and orthodontic problems worldwide. Studies have found that genetics does not play as significant a role in facial growth and development as previously thought. Poor oral habits such as mouth breathing and swallowing incorrectly are the underlying causes of why teeth are misaligned.
Should I wait for my daughter/son’s adult teeth to come in before considering Orthodontics? The Canadian Dental Association recommends every child have an orthodontic assessment no later than age 7. That’s because not all orthodontic problems can be treated if we were to wait for all adult teeth to be present. Waiting on treatment can lead to a less than ideal result. Certain orthodontic problems are best treated when children have a combination of adult and baby teeth. Do you provide financing options? We offer flexible financing options such as 0% financing and extended payment plans. We will work with you to create the perfect payment plan. What is a no-fee orthodontic consultation? Together, we will discuss any concerns you may have with your orthodontic treatment. We do not require any commitment to begin treatment. Please call and we would be happy to book you a no-fee orthodontic consultation.

Will it work for me or my child?
From 6-10 years of age, children are getting their first permanent teeth. At this stage the teeth can become crowded and the jaws misaligned. At 9-12 years of age, children are getting the remainder of their permanent teeth. Crowding and poor jaw alignment can become more sever as the adult face develops.
What Causes Crooked Teeth?
Habits such as mouth breathing, incorrect lip and tongue function (known as poor myofunctional habits) are the major causes of poor jaw development and tooth alignment. Research shows that these problems continue through to the permanent dentition - generally requiring complex orthodontic treatment. These habits are easier to correct in the growing years  than through braces or invisalign. Once the causes are corrected natural growth and dental alignment can take place.
How Does Myobrace Work?
Myobrace works by asking the patient to wear a series of removable Myobrace appliances (similar to shown) for a minimum of 1 hour during the day and overnight while sleeping. The purpose of this treatment is to change the patient’s oral habits with respect to tongue and lip posture, and swallowing patterns. Daily use of the Myobrace appliance results in straighter teeth and improved function, leading to improved facial development and a healthier smile. Although Myobrace is best directed to children and teens, adults still receive benefits from the treatment.  More information about Myobrace can be found at www.myobrace.com. The Myobrace System is a bit like a training program. Like study or sport, daily commitment and persistence is required to obtain results the best results. It also depends on the patient's inherent biology for change - therefore sometimes the results are rapid and other times it may take more perseverance. Old habits die hard, so the sooner the training program is implemented the better the growth benefits and the more permanent the result.
